Wrapping up Buenos Aires and South America

During our month in Buenos Aires we took several walks through neighborhoods and visited the Japanese gardens, the Bellas Artes Museum and the famous Recoleta Cemetery (more details on that coming in Michael's blog). Throughout our walks, we constantly marveled at the old trees throughout the city. Many of the roots were above the ground and created a long, twisting downhill path into the earth. Throw in a dark night and some fog and you have the perfect setting for a scary movie...I suppose you'd have to include a pretty coed traveling solo to make the scene complete.

More Buenos Aires

We all adjusted nicely to our apartment living in Buenos Aires. The bad news was that our washing machine didn't work. It leaked water constantly and we were told they needed a part that could take a while to receive in South America. So I became fast friends with the lady who ran the laundromat down the street. The good news was I could cook regular meals, so we no longer had to go out to eat on a regular basis. This was fine because no one thinks about dinner in Buenos Aires before 8 p.m. when we usually started thinking about sleep.

Entering Buenos Aires

We had an early domestic flight from Mendoza to Buenos Aires. We arrived on time, but the airline employees did not. It was the craziest thing. Not a soul at Aerolineas Argentinas. So we waited and looked around as more and more people showed up for the flight. Finally, almost an hour after we arrived, the employees showed up and started checking folks in.
