We were nearing the end of the North Coast 500 route with only one overnight stop left in the Highlands. After a lovely breakfast at our B & B, we left Wick and ventured out to explore a few castles.

We left the Ullapool area and headed north toward our next destination Durness. We had several stops planned along our route. Our first stop was a lighthouse in the village of Stoer.

Ullapool was the next largest city on our NC500 route. It is known as a picturesque fishing town with ferry service to nearby islands. Unfortunately, we could not find any accommodations in Ullapool. We ended up in an area called Lochbroom about 10 minutes from Ullapool. I say area because there was no real town, just a few spots along the road.
