Valparaiso is a labyrinth of streets and hills. Many say it resembles San Fransisco with the hills, but it's different. Many of the streets curve back and forth. The hills are not easy to navigate and it's difficult to represent all of the them on maps, so they are of little help. 

Valparaiso is under a two hour bus ride from Santiago. It is a port city with a great deal of history. This was the major import town for the country before the Panama Canal. 

We arrived at our hostel - CasAltura, in Santiago, Chile at about 5:30 a.m. We were incredibly thankful to be allowed to check into our dorm room at that time. We basically crashed and slept through breakfast.
