When we were in the plane to Phnom Penh, Cambodia I was pretty calm until we got closer to the ground. I started freaking out a little because I was picturing another Africa. I only saw brown lakes and dry ground for miles. When we landed I saw in the airport there were disease warnings, it looked very related to Ebola. When we got a visa or whatever we started to walk to the parking lot to look for a taxi. One immediately waved us over, he seemed nice enough, and when we were getting our bags in the taxi, I noticed a few cars. (Keep in mind Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world.) It was odd. I rubbed my eyes a little and realized my eyes weren't completely broken yet. Because I was looking at one Bentley Continental Drift and two Rolls Royce Ghosts. I was a bit mind blown and my dad commented to the taxi driver that there were many expensive cars here, and the driver said, "those are typhoon cars" meaning a lot of reconstruction money came into the country.
The drive to our hotel was madness. The traffic was nuts, the driver was crazy. He ran into a girl's leg who was sitting on a motorbike and didn't move for five seconds while crushing the girls leg. When we finally arrived it was very late. It had taken us over an hour to get there and it was only supposed to be twenty minutes. I was very relieved that the hotel was in a gated and guarded area. When we walked into the lobby we were very kindly greeted and given fresh lemonade with a very weird nasty green cup cake thing, which I tried. It didn't taste like much but it weighed more on the disgusting side than the tasty one. They had a nice swimming pool and a restaurant. We decided to eat there. Later on we started ordering in and having delicious meals. One night we watched 'Lone Survivor.' They had tons of movies on this one channel. I really enjoyed my time there.
