Our first official stop on the NC500 was at a village called Torridon in Western Ross. Traveling throughout the outskirts of the Highlands meant it was less likely we would get lost. Most of our accommodations were off the main road. We were lucky enough to secure a great room at The Torridon. The property has an award winning luxury hotel and an inn. We stayed at the inn and it was perfect for us.

We settled in our room, relaxed a bit and headed to the main lodge for dinner.
Lovely view for two reasons
After dinner, Michael and I went for a walk throughout the property. The grounds were impressive. The trails were filled with a variety of trees including some sequoias brought in from the States. We chose a trail that led us further into the woods along a brook, but we did not go too far. We decided we would convince the kids to join us for a walk closer to the water in the morning.
Some U.S. Sequoia trees were imported here.
Path for our evening walk
Our morning walk took us to Loch Torridon. The sun was out and we enjoyed the wonderful views of the Torridon Mountains.
It was such a gorgeous morning, but Maeve was not feeling well. Michael took her back to our room. Liam and I walked a bit further and took more pictures.

We packed up and hit the road traveling toward our next stop near Ullapool. There was a lot to see.
Quick stop at a town called Gairloch.
Must take time to stop and check out the scenery.
Lunch break at a town called Achnasheen
It was a beautiful day for a road trip. We were ready for a two night stay at our next stop.
