The Scam

         A short story,

                      By Liam Collins

By now we were long past Pucon and had already started in Argentina. We had been in Buenos Aires, Argentina for almost three weeks and we had just walked to the market. I can't say I was enjoying Argentina with everyone ripping us off left, right, and center. We were about halfway back to our apartment when suddenly I smelt the most awful smell of all smells. :P
I looked and then saw a smeared white liquid down the whole back of my dad's shirt and on my mom's hair, shirt, and glasses. We started talking and we were like WTH? Then out of nowhere a guy comes over with napkins and starts cleaning off the liquid or "bird crap." We were just confused, so we went with it. My mom tried asking him who did this or what did this and he just said, "Oh si, tres chicos," ( three boys ) and pointed to the park. And the next thing we knew he had all of my dad's money in his hand. My mom asked my dad if that was his money. Dad said yes and then the guy gave it back. So by now we had absolutely no idea what was happening. We thought that some kids were picking on the gringos. We made our threats to them. When we got home my dad looked up the "bird poop scam" on the Internet and it said, it's a common scam for someone to get behind you with a syringe and shoot "crap" on you and come over with napkins to clean it off while trying to take your cash. So by now we were utterly pissed off and we all agreed if we ever saw a man come over with napkins well, let's just say he wouldn't be wiping off crap anymore.
