Hoi An

We had been in Hoi An for a week before we decided to leave our hostel and go somewhere else in Hoi An for a month. I didn't want to leave because the hostel was pretty decent and I didn't want to risk Mom and Dad finding a worse accommodation than the one we were staying at now. One day we went to look at three houses, we didn't like any of them.

On another day, my parents left with my sister while I was using the bathroom. They went to look at a house and I wasn't feeling well. Apparently they loved it, so I, of course, lowered my expectations. When I went to look at it myself it was fairly decent. It had a back yard, a deck and it would've been better if it wasn't so hot. It was divided into two separate parts. One part was big, one was small. My parents slept in the big one and Maeve and I took the small one. There were two AC's in the big one and one in the small one. This was fine until the angry landlord told us not to use the AC's a lot. At this I thought why, but then I figured out she was paying the electric bills. So I thought why again?! Give us the bills. It's our place, why can't we do what we want with it? But either way, we sat there every morning in our underwear, listening to the creaking fan while we were dripping sweat.

A little while after we settled in we decided to meet up with a family we had met in Ho Chi Minh city. They had two kids Ruben and Rosie. Ruben was my age and Rosy was seven. We were meeting them at a restaurant on the beach. We'd been warned about jellyfish as well. Immediately we went in the water, Ruben thought he stepped on a jellyfish. We explored for a long time. We saw lots of jellyfish and live eels. Most of the jellyfish were washed up though.

Eventually Ruben and I split up with Maeve and Rosie. We kept going down the beach until we lost sight of the restaurant where our families were. We asked a man where the Soul Cafe was. He said "cafe, cafe?" We said, "No, Soul Cafe." But he kept saying the word cafe. Then he brought his daughter down, and she led us up to their cafe, so we ran away. A little while after that, we just sat in the water. We were talking until a creepy guy wearing speedos abducted me. I started to punch him in the stomach while Ruben was attempting to karate kick him in the crotch. Eventually he put me down, but not without a fight. Finally we made our way back, had a lot of ice tea and relaxed.

The rest of the time in Hoi An we rode bikes to restaurants and sat around all day or did school work. It wasn't fun. Eventually we rented another motor bike because it got so miserably hot. At one point I was so hot I couldn't think and my body was glistening with sweat. Every few days we'd go to the beach and have lunch, but that's about it.
